See topic title.

I would really like to eliminate the annoying track numbers from songs imported from CD. I'm not talking about tags, I mean the CD "lead-in" (I believe that's what it's called) that gives the artist, song title, etc.. The thing is...if I could eliminate the track numbers, iTunes could write most of the mp3 tags. But as it is...when I click on the song icon, it writes the tag as (for example): 02 Beatles. So I have to rewrite the tag manually.

it would be nice if I could just get rid of the track numbers. I would be even better if I could rewrite the lead-in entirely (so I could make all my songs consistent).

hehe! --I hope this wasn't a dumb thing to ask.

There's an option for iTunes to not put the track number in the file name. Is that what you are looking for? Of course, if you don't do that, they will display in alphabetical order in Windows Explorer.
