I accidentally deleted some songs from my ITunes but they are still in my IPod. Is there a way I can retain the songs in my pod but still update my pod with the new music I just downloaded in Itunes?

I read heaps of FAQ's but I didn't see anything that matched this problem.

Thanks for your help

Welcome to the lounge. OK! What I did was test this option out and it did work.
This is for windows computers only (Mac computers is Command + Option keys).

What you need to do is hold down the **Shift key + Ctrl key** as soon as you connect the iPod to the computer. *It's very important that you hold them and don't let the keys go.* This will stop the iPod from auto sync'ing with iTunes but the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait a few seconds to make sure it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go.

Right click on the iPod and select "iPod Options", then select "manually manage songs and playlist" (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61131).

On windows or Mac? I did it and it worked with no problems. I'm using windows XP + iTunes plus the iPod was on auto sync.
