New skip and play counts won't transfer from iPod to iTunes

I have a 4th Gen Nano, transferring to iTunes 10.1.0.54. I can see the correct skip/play counts and last played/skipped dates WITHIN the iPod, but it doesn't seem to be transferring the new statistics over to iTunes.
I've written a script to sort my music according to a formula based on play and skip counts, so making sure these statistics are correct is very important to me.
