Which microphone to use with the Ipod Touch for Skype?

I really want to use Skype with the Ipod Touch, but I'm not sure if the program is even compatible with the device because the Touch doesn't have an integrated microphone. I read about some people using Skype with the Touch, but I'm not sure how it works. Can I just stick a microphone into either the connector or the 3.5mm jack and just use it like the Iphone with Skype?
