If the store you are purchasing from online has a store or building location in your state, you get charged sales tax.
So I live in NJ with 7% sales tax, if I purchase from Best Buy online, or from buydig.com who has a location in NJ I am paying the 7% sales tax. However if I purchase from B&H Photo, they have their location in NY I dont have to pay sales tax. Anything I purchase direct from Amazon.com I dont have to pay sales tax, they have no locations in my state. Hope that helps.
