OK, so I just bought a 160GB classic. My last iPod was a 3G 20GB, so this was a big jump. One of the biggest selling points to me was the increased battery life, so I just had to see how accurate Apple's claims were. My iPod finally died last night at :
~ 57h 45m!
I say about because I don't know the exact minute it died. It's probably closer to 57h 53m.
What, Apple is UNDERESTIMATING battery claims now?
This was strictly an endurance test. I set my iPod to just start playing songs from my main song list. No repeat. I left the menu bar clock and SoundCheck on. I accessed the menus 4-5 times through the test and I kept the iPod at a room temp of 65-72 deg. Before I launched the test I applied a full restore to firmware 1.0.3 and have ~3000 songs on there.
It seems iLounge's tests were pretty accurate. I would love to know what everyone is seeing in real world uses.
Quite a happy camper here.
