Ok so Hi everyone since im new on here i think i should say that first.
Secondly im very pleased with my 80gig classic any issues i have seen most certainly will be addressed by apple in the coming updates however i do wish i had went for the 160gig (being a techie i feel like i have an inferior product since a 160gig does excist anyone else as bad as me or is it just me being a freak) Anyway i though i would give you guys the low down on the HDD's in the ipod classic and possibly why the 160gig at the moment appears to have a little more lag than the 80gig (besides it having less of a data base)

Now at the bottom you get the Details for the new HDD which i presume are in the classic ipods due to the ipod 160gb having increased battery life over the 80gb now without having a larger battery (which may be the case ) the 160 gb unit is more energy efficient however if you check out the interface speed 160gb = 52Mb/s the 80gb = 66 mb/s hence faster i know there are other factors that have to be taken into consideration like the 160gb has 4 heads vs 80gb 2 but the fact still stands the interface speed is still less so could be why people have noiced a slight diffrence between the two ipods UI speeds
Also why people with 160gb models may have heard more noise from the HDD when using the ipod as the 4 heads are working away in your units vs 80gb 2 heads and more moving parts = (potentialy) more noise.
Anyway i think im done for tonight ranting on hope this may help the quest for answers and great forum and hope you guys dont hate my long first post.
