There is a lot of money they stand to lose there if consumers decide to purchase a different product.
As I've said in other posts, this is standard practice for Apple and lots of other companies. That's why so much attention is paid to standing stock. It's often a leading indicator that a new model is coming, even when it happens in advance of a product announcement.
