The numbers are probably out there if you want to research it. I doubt anything else did any better, and would guess the competition ramped up more slowly. I'm not even sure its reasonable to compare a $200 phone with a $500/600 phone/ipod/browser.
The real issue is projections vs sales. If any company projects high sales and fails to deliver, they get hammered too.
